Happy Friday, Friend!
Who’s officially counting down the days until Christmas?!
If you haven’t been keeping track, there are now 17 days left!!!
This time of year can be a hectic and busy one. There are decorations to put up all over the house. Presents to shop for and gift wrap. Christmas cards to select and mail off. Cookies to bake. Light displays to see. Concerts to attend.
So many things are just vying for our time and attention that it’s hard to sit still and just be.
But that is exactly what Christmastime calls us to—to sit and reflect on the profound significance of our Savior’s birth; to find peace in the midst of the chaos; to embrace that same hope and joy today that Jesus brought with Him the night He was born.
And, for all of us here at the Christian Authors Network, that is exactly what we are encouraging you to do during the month of December as we spend our time looking at our current theme of God’s Promises.
You see, friend, the birth of Jesus is not just a historical event; it is a divine promise fulfilled—a testament to the unwavering faithfulness of our Heavenly Father.
In the Gospel of Matthew, we are reminded of the angel's proclamation to Joseph: "Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and they shall call his name Immanuel (which means, God with us)" (Matthew 1:23). Centuries before the angel's message, the prophet Isaiah foretold the birth of a child who would be called Immanuel—a child whose arrival would signify God dwelling amongst His people.
The birth of Jesus is a symbol of God's faithfulness to His promises. It reinforces throughout history that our God is a Promise Keeper, one who is true to His word. Today, we live in a world filled with broken promises and unfulfilled commitments. But, the birth of Jesus is our resounding affirmation that our Heavenly Father remains unwavering in His faithfulness even today, some 2,000+ years later.
The significance of Jesus' birth goes beyond the lowly manger and the humble stable. It is a divine reminder that God keeps His promises, no matter how unlikely or extraordinary the circumstances may seem. The fulfillment of the prophecy in Jesus' birth reassures us that God's promises are not contingent on our human circumstances or limitations but rather on His character and His goodness.
The following two passages of Scripture remind us of this:
“God is not human, that he should lie, not a human being, that he should change his mind. Does he speak and then not act? Does he promise and not fulfill?”
-Numbers 23:19
“So is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.”
-Isaiah 55:11
This month, as we celebrate the Christmas season and, with it, the birth of our Savior, let us be reminded that the faithfulness of God extends beyond the nativity scene.
It permeates all aspects of our lives—every situation, every scenario, every commonplace event. In times of uncertainty or trouble, when we question the fulfillment of God's promises, let us fix our gaze on the manger as our tangible reminder that God is always good on His promises.
My prayer for you today is that you allow the miracle of Jesus' birth to renew your faith and strengthen your trust in the faithfulness of our Heavenly Father; that, as you anchor yourself in the assurance that God is faithful to you, you will see additional promises come to pass in your life.
Dedicated to your success,
Coach Tam
