God's Not Done With Your Book Yet

Dear Faithful Author,

We’re just weeks away from the end of the year—can you believe it? I want to take a moment to ask: How has your progress been this year?

Before we dive into plans for what's ahead, let's pause to reflect on how far God has brought you. Think back to January. Look at the obstacles you've overcome, the lessons you've learned, and the ways God has moved in your writing journey. Whether you're celebrating victories or navigating challenges, remember that each step has been part of His perfect plan.

"Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and He will establish your plans." – Proverbs 16:3

As the year closes, I like to take stock. I evaluate what worked, what didn’t, what I need to keep, and where I need to pivot. It’s a time of humility and planning because while we steward our work, it’s God who ultimately blesses the plans we commit to Him.

And speaking of plans, I've been diving into publishing trends for the upcoming year. (I'll share more in my blog this Thursday—mark your calendar!) But here's something to encourage you:

Did you know the publishing industry in the U.S. alone generates $28 billion annually? That's not just a number—it's proof that readers are hungry for meaningful content. If your book sales haven't been what you'd hoped, don't lose heart. Your message matters, and there's a place for your voice in this vast landscape.

However, the landscape is shifting. With the rise of ebooks, audiobooks, and changing reader habits, we must adapt to meet people where they are. Just as Jesus met people in their daily lives—at wells, on fishing boats, in marketplaces—we're called to share our God-given messages where people gather today. "For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost." (Luke 19:10)

Ask yourself:

  • Are you meeting readers where they are?

  • Are you building authentic connections through your brand that honor God?

  • Are you maximizing the resources He's provided to make your message heard?

  • Is your marketing approach reflecting both excellence and authenticity?

As Christians, we're entrusted with messages that deserve to be shared. But if no one discovers your book—if it stays hidden—can it fulfill its purpose? God's infinite power can multiply your reach, but it often requires stepping out of your comfort zone, learning new strategies, and embracing the opportunities He's providing.

Here's one powerful tip as you prepare for the new year: Your strongest marketing tool is your testimony. With the rise of AI and content saturation, readers are more discerning than ever. Share the story behind your story. Let them see how God worked through your writing journey. This authenticity will set you apart in an increasingly digital world.

Remember: "Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us" (Ephesians 3:20).
