Are You Making These Common Marketing Mistakes? Here’s How to Avoid Them!

Hi Faithful Author,

I’ll always remember the day I felt like giving up on selling my first book.

I published my book, yet I felt excitement and dread. I had poured my heart into every page, and then I was faced with the daunting task of getting those books into the hands of readers.

I did what any starting author would do—I started Googling. And that’s when I fell down the rabbit hole of advice on how to reach more readers. Every article, every blog, every webinar seemed to tell me something different. "Post three times a day on Instagram," "Build a massive email list," "Master SEO," and on it went. I remember thinking, Is this really what God wants me to do? Is this how I’m supposed to share His message?

I was overwhelmed and frustrated. I felt like I was spinning my wheels without making any real progress.

Maybe you’ve felt that way, too?

After a while, I started questioning myself. I wondered if promoting my book was somehow at odds with my calling. Shouldn’t God just lead the right people to my book? Was I doing something wrong by trying to put it out there?

But then, something shifted in my heart. During my prayer time, I sensed God reminding me of a simple truth: Sharing the message He has given us isn’t about self-promotion; it’s about stewardship.

That revelation changed everything.

I began to see this process as another kind of ministry. I realized that if I truly believed in the message God had placed on my heart, I needed to be proactive in sharing it. But I also knew I needed to stay away from certain pitfalls that could distract or discourage me along the way.

Over the years, through my own experience and in helping countless other Christian authors, I’ve discovered five common mistakes many of us make when trying to reach more readers.

These might sound familiar:

- Neglecting the power of an email list because it feels like just another chore.

- Over-relying on social media, hoping to go viral overnight.

- Not understanding SEO and how it can help your book be found by those searching for hope and truth.

Sound familiar? I’ve been there, and so have many others.

But the good news is that these mistakes are hardly common—they’re completely avoidable! When we learn to avoid them, we unlock the potential to reach more people with the message God has entrusted to us.

That's why I've put together a detailed blog post:

This isn’t just another list of tips. It's a heartfelt guide, filled with practical steps and spiritual encouragement, designed specifically for authors like us who want to serve God faithfully while reaching more readers.
